I always love it when a brand wants to work together continuously, regularly producing photos and promoting them on my social. It really is a two-way working relationship really; working with them benefits both me and Boomer and Jen as we’re both promoting each other in a way.
Read MoreVenturing into new social medias
I guess one of the few good points of quarantine is that everyone’s spending more time on social media, whether that’s on existing platforms like Instagram and TikTok, or new ones such as Spoon (a live and recorded podcast platform).

So if you’ve seen my recent Instagram post you might have noticed that I’ve been exercising quite a bit now and have managed to lose the weight that was covering my abs and build the muscle up a bit. Now I wasn’t actively exercising before the quarantine started besides constantly lifting the 15kg bags of dog food where I work normally, but since this quarantine started I’ve been working out regularly too.

Now when I came across Rosemary Despres’ Instagram page, I knew I wanted to work with them. There’s something beautiful about unique handmade jewellery that really drew me to the pieces, so I dropped them a message and we made a plan to make the most of what we could do shoot wise during this quarantine and got to work.

My dad came into my room the other day as I was doing my hair and makeup on one of my days off of work to ask me why I bother still getting ready when I’m not going anywhere. And my response was simply that Boris told us to maintain normality

Okay, now I’m not blowing my own trumpet or anything here, but my Instagram account is doing bits at the moment. I’ve been growing so quickly over the past few days, resulting in finally getting over the 7000 follower account after deviating closer and further from it for the past few weeks.

I think people look at social media and people who use it for work, either as a boost for their business or as their main source of income and think it’s just easy work; that all it involves is just finding a photo, writing a quick caption and posting it, but the shear amount of thought and work that goes into it is insane.

It’s times like these when we realise what we’ve taken for granted: seeing family, going on nights out with friends, and being able to pop out pretty much anywhere to meet up with people and socialise. It’s funny really that it’s taken a massive pandemic like this to make us all realise what means the most to us

Luckily, or unluckily depending on how you look at it, I’m still working so I’m not cooped up in the house all the time. However, I have had to cut down my hours quite a lot, and now I’ve had a couple of days off of work, I’m finding myself sitting here wondering what I can do. I can’t work from home like Boris is telling us to, so it leaves the question, what do I do when I’m not working?

In short, yes, but they can be malleable, and things can change as well as people’s opinions. I get told quite a bit that I seem really quiet and awkward at first, but then when I get to know someones and start talking, I don’t shut up. Anyone who knows me well, knows I talk for England,

It’s always funny to see when you go through a big life change, how you’ll come out of it on the other side. As most of you would have gathered, I left my partner, moved house, changed my career and a lot of other stuff happened between that, but in a way I’m grateful that I did go through all that, and I’m much happier for it now.
Just going to go on a casual little rant now considering this is where I like to vent usually!
Obviously because of no longer having a regular photographer and living in a more remote place, I had to put my modelling on hold whilst I sorted everything out. Now, however, I’m settled, better off, and ready to get back into the swings of things with my modelling, social media and general life. I know it might take a while to get back into it properly, but until then I’m happy with how everything is going so far.
I mean I am so grateful for my family for helping to get me sorted out, I know I’m not there entirely yet but everything will be good shortly. My job is going really well currently, and I’m so pleased I managed to start working here, and for the people I’ve met through that. I lost a lot of people I was good friends with a few months ago, but I suppose that just proves who was actually there for you and who wasn’t. For the people that have been there for me, and the people I’ve met recently, thank you. <3
I’ll try not to mumble on too much more. I just wanted to say, I think I’m going to use my blog, along with for my photoshoots, brand work ext, to open up a bit more. It’s something I struggle with, but writing blog posts has always helped and it’s a really good way to vent without having to actually open up to someone in person.
Much love to everyone who reads this and is there for me. Now here’s a photo of me looking sassy - Liv x
The benefits of getting a good old haircut
I never thought that getting a new haircut would make such a difference in how I felt with myself and where I was in life. I went into Steven and Laurent nervous, and came out feeling so much more confident and better mentally, even if it was just for a short while.
Ever since I was about 13 I’ve always had really long hair. I got it chopped into a very short shoulder length bob when I was 11, and thinking back on it, I didn’t like it either. It definitely didn’t suit 11 year old Olivia. Since then, I’ve always just grown my hair out and occasionally had it trimmed by my Mum (who always did a very good job at it might I add). It got to the point where I was like, I need a change and I want it done professionally in fear that it could go terribly wrong.
My hair is so much easier now to maintain too. The ends definitely feel a whole lot healthier and more voluminous. When it’s dried (I nearly always let it dry naturally), it’s got more of a wave to it and doesn’t really need much doing to it besides maybe adding in some beach style waves spray to add a bit of texture. Curling it also takes about 10 minutes, compared to the at least half an hour it used to take me when I had an extra 8 inches of hair attached to my head.
Funnily enough, getting a haircut had such a boost on my mental state, and made my feel much more good in myself. I walked out of Steven and Laurent confident and with a tad more sass. (Which is never a bad thing!) I think because it’s such a drastic change, it can really add that something that just transforms your look, changing you into a slightly different person, looks-wise and mentally.
If you’re umming and aahing about whether to go and get that big change in a haircut, I’d say go for it! There’s no point debating it - if you don’t like it, it will grow back anyway! If you’re looking for a good hairdresser in the Devon area, I would strongly suggest Steven and Laurent in Bideford. They do an amazing job!! Cornwall shoot for Huers Clothing Co
As my third shoot for Huers, I was really looking forward to getting out, exploring Cornwall and trying out their new cold-weather clothing. Waking up at 3am wasn’t my favourite part of the day however, but I got ready and made some sausage sandwiches for the car ride nonetheless. Our first stop was Godrevy Lighthouse - a stunning sandy beach with dramatic cliffs and crystal clear blue water, along with the view of the lighthouse in the distance. Watching the sunrise whilst walking along the beach was beautiful, and it surprisingly wasn’t actually too cold either. I wore a black top of theirs at this location, which was really comfy and contrasted well with the background I think.
Our next location was St Agnes Head, which I’ve been to many times before, but it never gets boring. The view from the cliff is just gorgeous: crashing waves, paths along the cliff, and blue sea. There was a larger group than usual, so Will managed to get a larger range of photos in loads of different clothing. As always, I took my hoodie that I wear on a daily basis to keep warm, and so we got quite a few photos of that too.
After St Agnes, we headed down to Holywell Beach - Another sandy beach with large sand dunes, tufts of grass around and dramatic ocean views. It unfortunately did start to drizzle intermittently but we still managed to get loads of great photos of the hats, tops and jumpers. They’ve recently introduces some new beanie hats and more of the bobble hats that definitely keep your head warm in the cold winters we usually have!
Port Isaac was our last location, and what a location it was. Famous for being the filming place of Doc Martin, there’s always tourists there coming to get a glimpse of the iconic filming locations, but for us the best parts were the pebbled beach and tiny Cornish streets. I changed my top into a white one with a little seagull logo on it. The tops are lightweight enough to be breathable, but also keep you warm.
Overall, this was a very successful photoshoot full of a large range of locations, clothing and different photos. A photoshoot for Huers is always enjoyable and well worth the trip down to Cornwall for. Check out their instagram (@huersclothingco) or their website: www.huersclothingco.com
