It's not as easy as it all looks

I suppose one thing about having all this spare time to focus on my social media pages and blog is that I really am working on it harder than I have in a very long time. I think people look at social media and people who use it for work, either as a boost for their business or as their main source of income and think it’s just easy work; that all it involves is just finding a photo, writing a quick caption and posting it, but the shear amount of thought and work that goes into it is insane.

For example, I’ve got to go on a photo shoot to get the photos, so that’s an entire day if not longer. Then I’ve either got to wait for the photos to be edited or edit them myself; I’m not great at editing so it takes me a while to get an okay photo to be honest, but I’m working on it.

Now the caption, unless it’s for a collaboration or brand work, doesn’t take that long to think of. I mean most my captions are just me writing something random. But the hashtags take a decent time to think of. I tend to use the same ones for a number of posts, then go over them and think of a load of new ones, depending on what’s trending modelling wise and how many people are using certain hashtags.

I mean after posting is when the rest of it all comes into play. You’ve got to post it on your story; I then post on my Pinterest and link it, and then my Facebook and link it. And then if I’m posting to my blog I’ve got to post that on my Instagram story. The first half an hour after posting is key really: the more engagement you get then, the better your post will perform, hence why I usually go on the explore page and interact with loads of posts in order to get more interaction back on my post.

The bottom line is, it isn’t a bloody easy job. It might sound it, but it’s not really. And if you’re post doesn’t perform well, if it gets taken down or if you just end up getting roasted for it, then was it all really worth it? Right rant over, apologies :P - Liv x
