So if you’ve seen my recent Instagram post you might have noticed that I’ve been exercising quite a bit now and have managed to lose the weight that was covering my abs and build the muscle up a bit. Now I wasn’t actively exercising before the quarantine started besides constantly lifting the 15kg bags of dog food where I work normally, but since this quarantine started I’ve been working out regularly too.
One of my main worries when we were all told to isolate was that my mental health would decline due to not having any variation in my schedule, and only going to work, then coming home and having nothing to do. However, exercising most days has meant I’ve had more of a schedule that I can stick to that enables me to focus on bettering myself both physically and mentally.
Now I’m not going all out and becoming a body builder or anything. I’ve just been doing some simple exercises to improve my abs and arms mainly, along with becoming more flexible, which has been working, and I can now nearly do the splits which is pretty cool because I’ve never been able to do that. I mean I’ve only been solidly doing this for a couple of weeks, but two weeks ago,, I basically didn’t have any abs, and now I somewhat do.
I guess the moral of the story is that in order to not fall into a pit of depression, do some exercise, keep busy, and try not to think about what everyone’s saying about your TikToks that might be slightly overly cringy.
